New Project: 4.1 Feet Long SDF-1 SDF TV Version

hey guys, hate to break it but to my dismay, My DRYL SDF build ended up in the garbage bin.. got so furious about it..

well.. after about two day's i've managed to pacify myself.. it's the first time afterall that something like this happened.. but yeah, i'm just focusing on the good side of the situation.. (i kept telling myself that the first one didn't turned out as accurate as i wanted it to be anyway) i've managed to channel my depression over my work's mishap so far with working on a better plan and doing more research.. i've decided to do the TV Version instead..


i dropped the "CARD BOARD" as my main material for this build, i thought of using styrene sheets, but with its scarcity in my location, i researched for some other materials closely the same to it.. went to a couple of hardware shops, 'til a particular material caught my attention - a rubberized vinyl plastic tile.. tried to buy one and test it for curving and it turned out pretty good!

i started working on the bridge area.. i wanted to make it as accurate as possible this time, so i just took my time doing all the minute detailing.. i think one thing i learned from my last build too is not to rush things..



hey les gars, à la haine, à la pause, mais à mon grand désarroi, mon DRYL SDF construire fini dans la poubelle .. sont tellement furieux contre lui ..

bien .. après environ deux jours que j'ai réussi à me calmer .. c'est la première fois, après tout que quelque chose de ce genre .. mais oui, je suis juste en mettant l'accent sur le bon côté de la situation .. (i gardé en me disant que le premier ne s'est pas avéré aussi précis que je voulais qu'elle soit de toute façon) J'ai réussi à canaliser ma dépression au cours de mon travail de l'incident jusqu'à présent de travailler sur un meilleur plan et de faire plus de recherche .. J'ai décidé de faire de la TV Version lieu ..


i abandonné le "carton" comme mon principal matériau pour cette construction, j'ai pensé à l'aide de feuilles de styrène, mais avec sa rareté dans ma situation, j'ai recherché pour d'autres matériaux de près la même chose pour elle .. est allé à un couple de magasins de matériel, jusqu'à un matériau retenu mon attention - une tuile caoutchoutée vinyle .. essayé d'en acheter un et de le tester pour être courbé et il s'est avéré très bon!

J'ai commencé à travailler sur la zone du pont .. Je tenais à le rendre aussi précis que possible de cette période, j'ai donc juste pris mon temps à faire tous les détails minute .. Je pense que j'ai appris une chose de ma dernière construction est aussi de ne pas précipiter les choses ..

i'll also do some articulation on the bridge's left part since i noticed from other pictures it appears to be connected to the main control area (in attack mode), while at some pictures it appears to be separated.. (cruiser mode)

Je vais aussi faire un peu d'articulation sur la partie gauche du pont, j'ai remarqué depuis d'autres images, il semble être relié à la principale zone de contrôle (en mode attaque), tout en quelques images, il semble être séparés .. (mode de croisière)



the bridge is roughly at 80% completion, still have to do the following:

- detailed bridge internals
- detailing for bridge's back portion
- more sanding on curve areas

hi guys.. how far i've gone with the project:


Planned at finishing the bridge with its internal details.. but i wasn't able to find right materials for it.. so skipped on that part, and decided to start doing the ship's main body.. i've managed to do the upper part where the bridge will be situated..





i've also started with some detailings on it (destroid mounts, cannons, .. still need some sanding ang might as well use putty on some parts..












and here's a mock-up combination with the bridge.. i changed the bridge's antenna too





well just an idea of its size so far.. that box on the backdrop's a 1/60 VF-1D Valkyrie

Some updates:

Haven't had that much updates as of last week.. only managed to work on this build for few hours, so i opted to skip last week without any updates. Also got sick since tuesday, and 'til now i still have this nasty flu, but just wanna get this going.. so now here's my progress since my last update so far..

did the details on the back area of the main hull..




main hull's secondary triple-barreled particle cannon, mounted on the forward main hull.. it's detachable and can be replaced by six missile launchers.. which i still have to build as well.




most of the time was spent on doing the SDF's main cannons.. as you can see, it's already taking shape







main particle cannon situated on the each side.. and triple barrel turrets..




some detailings made underneath the main haul..




torpedo tubes, and missile box launchers on the main cannon..

have you got pics of the rubberized vinyl plastic tile you use. it seems to be a good material for new creations. what is the normal utility of these ties.

as tu des photos de tes tuiles vinyles que tu utilises. ca semble etre un bon materiau pour des creations. quelle est l' uitilisation normale des ces tuiles?

Nicks i'm just not that patient to wait for yamato, and with the possibility they might end up with just the prototype as what they did with the k. monster. i wish i could recast this and make this available to all fans, but with the material i'm using, i'm not really sure if it's feasible..

deisuki i will try and take a decent pic of the main material.. i'll get back at you later.. as for it's utility, it's basically being used for flooring, they kinda rubberized, which makes them a good material for making stuff with curve parts.

Almost done with the main cannon section.. i decided to skip building tip parts after making the primary boosters




still have to scribe and add up some panel linings underneath as i find it kinda lame without it..




both side sections of the ship's main hull's almost done too:




main particle cannons and triple barreled laser/particle beam turrets on the hull's side section




here's the shoulder section with single barrel rail cannons mounted on it. (i'm not sure.. but i kinda find the barrel too little or it's just too long.. i might have to redo it next time) I'm also thinking of inserting LEDs on all four barrel tips that why i'm not putting much details on the tip part.

did the accounting of all armaments according to official specification for the SDF 1 TV Version.. i wanted to make it as accurate per official specification..



i've managed to locate and account these armaments so far using the official line art:

- 1 x Main cannon (heavy particle beam)
- 8 x main particle cannon (one under the main hull, three on the upper main hull, two on the flanks of the reflex cannon, and two on the upper legs.)
- 1 x secondary triple-barreled particle cannon (mounted on the forward main hull. Sometime into the war this turret was refitted with six missile launchers rather than its cannons.)
- 4 x single barrel rail cannons mounted on the shoulders.
- 16 x triple barreled laser/particle beam turrets scattered around the hull.

the more minute detailing is something i'm cuurently thinking of where to install:

12 x torpedo tubes
48 x ten-tube missile launcher boxes

anybody has an idea of where most of these where situated?

i'll also need some line-art reference on the lower part of the ship.. i hope somebody here could help me out.

UPDATE:

most of the work were done on the the ships lower part.. also worked on the connecting piece of the arm where the two ship will be mounted.. and also connecting part of the ship before it's main boosters..

anyway.. nuff talk.. here's some quick shots i did..










slots for boosters.. still haven't sealed it yet since i still have to place some electrical wires..
